Home Stretch, TV Turn-Off Week, & Autobiographies
April 21, 2008 by James Hendricks
I hope that your vacation was a restful one. It is hard to believe that we have only one more “no school” day before we are out of school for the summer. As I write this posting there are exactly 45 days left to school. We will keep focused until June 23rd arrives!
This week is TV Turn-Off Week that is organized by our enrichment interns Ms. McCormick and Ms. Wallmark. There are many evening activities taking place this week including a talent show and an activity at the public library. Make sure that your family keeps their pledge to participate in TV Turn-Off week!
Homework returns to normal this week so look for planners and worksheets in STAR folders this week. We will also have some time to share a couple autobiographies a day until they are finished. We can’t wait to share them!
Homework for Week of April 7 to 11, 2008
April 7, 2008 by James Hendricks
This is a big week for the Team Hendricks classroom. Students have been working on their autobiography project for almost a month. Some students were required to have one extra check-in today, Monday April 7th. Autobiographies are due on Friday, April 11th, the day before April Vacation.
At this point, students should be putting on their finishing touches. Most of the content should be completely done by now. We have an opportunity to share our autobiographies after we get back from April Vacation.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
Southeast’s Go Green Week
April 6, 2008 by James Hendricks
Southeast Elementary School will participate in a Go Green Week that has been developed by our Good Earth University of Connecticut Interns Miss Danielle Smith and Miss Elizabeth Kloeblen have coordinated activities for the week. Students are encouraged to participate in some eco activities that will help make a difference to the Earth. Some of those activities include taking shorter showers, using one-sided scrap paper, composting, and more. Students will fill-out slips to tell us how they have helped the Earth and these activities will be tallied. The class that has the most eco activities completed will be able to paint an eco mural.
In addition to these student activities, NBC30 Meteorologist John Carroll will be visiting Southeast School to talk about weather and its affect on the Earth. He will speak to third grades from 10:05 to 11:00 AM on Monday.
A culminating activity will occur on Tuesday, March 22, which is Earth Day at Southeast School.
