Hello All!  We have a busy week for homework.  Today, we talked about planning time wisely.  By incorporating some long-term assignments into the schedule, students need to think about the work they need to do in order to meet deadlines.  This week’s planner  provides all of the details.

Book Orders are due this Wednesday!!

Our spelling program pilot begins this week.  As with any pilot, there are bound to be some issues.  Your questions and feedback are encouraged so we can forward them to our reading and language arts consultant.

Homework Planner Week Beginning 2009-09-14

Tonight we will be playing catch-up on some cursive letters that we started but were not able to finish — l, h, t, k, u

Nightly spelling homework has changed just a bit.  In addition to studying muscle words, it is important for your child to study the missed words on the Unit 1 spelling pre-test.  I have uploaded spelling words to the SpellingCity.com web site.  Please click on the Spelling link at the top of the page.

Your child should continue to study addition math facts until I tell them to study subtraction.  At this point, there is only one student on subtraction facts.

Have a great night.

Welcome to a new week!  Today we viewed President Obama’s speech to the students of the United States.  Mr. Obama spoke about putting in best effort in school because students have a responsibility for their education.  He spoke about setting goals.

This week, students will set their own goals… one personal and one academic.  After writing a sentence or two, students will illustrate how they will accomplish the goal.  A copy of the homework is available.

Assignment:  Setting Goals

As always, students have reading for 20 minutes per night, math facts for five minutes per night, and muscle words for 5 minutes per night.
